PayPal Strengthens its Partnership with Discover

PayPal and Discover are taking their partnership to a different level within the mobile payments game. Last wekk, Discover signed contracts with 50 merchants to usher in-store acceptance for PayPal to greater than 2 million merchants by the top of the year.

The current partnership with Discover enables PayPal to make use of Discover’s payments infrastructure to offer merchants the facility to just accept PayPal through “innovative mobile solutions.” A few of the largest names offering PayPal include Vantiv, WorldPay, Global Payments, First American Payments, Heartland Payment Systems and TSYS.

“With Discover’s help we’re poised to grow from the 250,000 retailers who accept PayPal in store today to greater than 2 million by the top of 2013,” said Don Kingsborough, VP of retail services at PayPal. “As consumers continue to take advantage of technology to buy in new and exciting ways, we shall continue to collaborate with Discover’s acquirer partners to support the growing needs in their merchants.”
