Intuit Offers Bargain Mobile Payments to Market Traders

Intuit Pay is offering stall holders playing Love Your Local Market the chance to take free mobile card transactions.

Using Intuit’s bluetooth-enabled card reader, which they could get for half price, together with the Android or iOS app, traders shall be capable of take fee-free transactions on their smartphone or iPad. After 90 days, or sales total greater than £2,500, the usual charge of two.75 per cent per transaction applies.

The Love Your Local Market initiative launched today at London’s Portobello and Golborne Road Market by Minister for Local Growth, Mark Prisk MP, and may be targeting 1,500 of the UK’s local markets. It was devised by the National Association of British Market Authorities and the dep. for Communities and native Government to assist rejuvinate local shopping areas.

Mark Little, UK MD of Intuit, said: “Intuit Pay solves an incredible problem for the millions of small businesses within the UK who don’t currently accept card payments and so fail to spot sales or prompt payment in consequence. The UK’s market traders are a hugely important portion of that small business community.”

Sinead Kohler, co-founding father of South London’s Crafty Fox Market, said that Intuit Pay had already improved the takings at their market. “We found that consumers spent more on the stalls using Intuit Pay, as they weren’t limited by the money of their pockets.”
